Gaming

The word gaming or gambling refers to the act of betting money or an event or a game and it can be done in a variety of ways. You can play a state sponsored lottery or you can play a nickle and dime game of poker.  If you life in the United States then you know that it depends on which state you live in as to what the laws are for gambling.

Because of the revenues that they generate, state lotteries and casino gaming are the two at the top of the list in the gambling industry. These two overshadow number three of the legalized gambling in America which is the racetrack wagering. The revenue from the track is substantial but pale in comparison to the other two.

The fortunes of the industry of track racing dropped in the last half of the twentieth century as the mild gamblers were taken from the race tracks by the lotteries.  Those not happy with the slower pace of track racing slowly moved to the casinos where they found a more diverse choice of entertainments. To stay in the competition, the industry leaders then made changes so the American gambler would stay with them and they began with the electronic gaming market.
